Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) took to the top in FP1 for Moto2™ at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, followed closely by a late charge from 2014 Moto3™ World Champion Alex Marquez. Second Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Brad Binder had made it a 1-2 for the Austrian factory for some time, before finishing the session in third.
One early incident saw Axel Pons (RW Racing GP) and Stefano Manzo (Sky Racing Team VR46) collide, and reigning Champion Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) was fifth quickest.
