Danilo Petrucci (Alma Pramac Racing) topped Q1 at the HJC Helmets Grand Prix de France, with Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) joining him in the second part of qualifying.
Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda Castrol), chasing a top two spot on his final run, had a massive high side on the exit of Turn 9 - landing heavily on his right side. The Brit was conscious and gave a thumbs up to the fans trackside, but had to be stretchered off.
Angel Nieto Team riders Alvaro Bautista and Karel Abraham also crashed in the session, both riders ok. Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) also fell late in the session at Turn 3 – rider ok.
