Lowes takes Sunday morning honours in Valencia

British rider on top in the wet conditions to head Marquez and Tuuli ahead of the race

Sam Lowes (Swiss Innovative Investors) went quickest in Moto2™ Warm Up at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana after setting the benchmark time of a 1:47.856. This was enough to beat second-place Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) by 0.230 – the Spaniard surviving a big scare at Turn 4 – while Niki Tuuli (Petronas Sprinta Racing) continued his great weekend in Valencia – P3 in Warm Up for the Finn.

2018 Champion runner-up Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) was P4, he was 0.410 behind Lowes’ time, with Fabio Quartararo (HDR Heidrun – Speed Up) completing the top five on Sunday morning – the Frenchman did crash at Turn 6 though, rider ok. Pole man Luca Marini (SKY Racing Team VR46) was 15th fastest, with teammate and 2018 World Champion Francesco Bagnaia P9 ahead of his final intermediate class appearance.

Federico Fuligni (Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2), Steven Odendaal (NTS RW Racing GP), Marcel Schrotter (Dynavolt Intact GP) and Jorge Navarro (Federal Oil Team Gresini) also crashed – riders ok.

Who will claim victory in the final race of 2018? An intriguing wet weather encounter awaits…
