Lüthi leads the way in Moto2™ FP1

Dynavolt Intact GP rider is just ahead of home hero Alex Marquez

Dynavolt Intact GP’s Tom Lüthi set the early pace in Moto2™ at the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya, just ahead of Italian GP winner Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) with the Catalan rider only 0.060 of a second adrift of the Americas GP winner.

HDR Heidrun Speed Up’s Jorge Navarro was only 0.007 of a second further back from Marquez, despite a huge moment halfway through the session. Despite a crash at Turn 10, FlexBox HP40’s Augusto Fernandez kept hold of his place inside the top four with class rookie Enea Bastianini (Italtrans Racing Team) again impressing to be fifth quickest. The top 18 were covered by less than a second with Jonas Folger (Petronas Sprinta Racing) a place outside in 19th on his return to Grand Prix racing.

Early in the session, Red Bull KTM Tech 3’s Phillip Oettl crashed heavily on the exit of Turn 2 and subsequently visieted the medical centre at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Also crashing out of the session, but thankfully unhurt, were Sam Lowes (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) at Turn 5, Marcel Schrötter (Dynavolt Intact GP) at Turn 9 and Joe Roberts (American Racing KTM) at Turn 10.
