Florian Alt undertook his first race in 2002 on a KTM 50cc, before making his way up through the ADAC Mini Bike Cup to ultimately enter the German 125cc IDM Championship in 2009. The following year he remained in the IDM but also entered the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup where he came 11th. In 2011 his situation remained the same but his results improved, coming sixth in the Rookies Cup and eighth in the IDM. 2012 proved to be his year, as near perfect seasons in both championships saw the German become both IDM and Rookies champion, leading to a step up to the Moto3 Championship in 2013 with the newly formed Kiefer Racing Moto3 outfit.
