Quartararo set for surgery following Valencia GP

The Frenchman will have the middle finger on his left hand operated on after his crash in Malaysia

MotoGP™ World Champion Fabio Quartararo is reportedly set for surgery following the final round of the 2022 World Championship next weekend. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider suffered a fracture to the middle finger of his left hand following a crash on Saturday at the Malaysian Grand Prix, and will now have to grit his teeth for #TheDecider before then going under the knife in the days following the Valencian Grand Prix.

Quartararo leaves medical centre with fracture diagnosis

During Free Practice 4 at the Sepang International Circuit, Quartararo tucked the front at Turn 8 and slammed his left hand down on the tarmac in the aftermath. He was later diagnosed with a fracture in the finger but was still able to fight his way through from 12th on the grid to take the final spot on the podium and keep the title chase alive. Now, he'll have to win next Sunday's final round with said broken finger if he's to have any chance of reclaiming the MotoGP™ crown.
