MCN: Yamaha to debut seamless shift gearbox at Sepang 2

Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis has hinted to that Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo will finally be able to take advantage of a full seamless shift gearbox at the Sepang 2 test.

The riders so far have only been able to use a seamless “upshift” gearbox since Misano last year, and Rossi and Lorenzo both believe that the Honda RCV213V has an advantage in corner entry and braking stability by having the ability to use it on down shifts too.

When asked if the new gearbox would make its debut at the test, Jarvis said: “I think it should be a realistic scenario. What is important with the gearbox is you can’t afford to make mistakes because you are talking about rider safety. This is something paramount to Yamaha that whatever we bring we are 100% confident with it.”
