Aleix Espargaro to undergo arm pump surgery

The Aprilia rider will reportedly go under the knife after the French GP

Arm pump has claimed yet another victim, which forced Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) to end his Jerez testing early due to the issue. After flying to the Dexeus clinic in Barcelona to visit Dr Xavier Mir, he underwent an MRI and stress test, and a decision was made to schedule him in for surgery.

However, the technical times and the stringent health protocols linked to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic will force the Spaniard to go under the knife after the French GP in Le Mans, scheduled for May 16.

Aleix downbeat despite Aprilia's closest finish to winner

Espargaro, who finished the Spanish GP in P6, is no stranger to these types of problems. The number 41, in fact, has already undergone an intervention for the same issue in 2009. He joins a growing list of names that have already been operated on this season for the same reason, joining Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team), Iker Lecuona ( Tech 3 KTM Factory Racing) and most recently, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP).

Danilo Petrucci (Tech 3 KTM Factory Racing) will reportedly be in Milan on Friday to have his arm checked for a potential arm pump issue, or if his troubles are linked to a double neck hernia, as he could possibly be set also go under the knife.
