Alex Barros' battling fourth place finish in Turkey puts him on target to become just the third rider ever to pass the milestone of 2000 points in the premier-class, if he can finish fifth or better in China.
Alex Barros' battling fourth place finish in Turkey despite a heavy dose of ‘flu before the race was his best result since the Czech Republic Grand Prix in 2005, where he also finished fourth.
With this result he has now accumulated a total of 1989 points in the premier-class of Grand Prix racing. This puts him on target to become just the third rider ever to pass the milestone of 2000 points in the premier-class, if the Brazilian veteran can finish fifth or better in the Sinopec Great Wall Lubricants Grand Prix of China. As shown in the following table Pramac D'Antin's Barros is already the third highest premier-class point scorer, though it must be noted that modern day competitors are at an advantage in terms of this statistic due to the current scoring system allocating more points to the leading riders.
