In the short break between this month´s race at Jerez and the following Grand Prix in Portugal, 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden will undertake the first lap of the latest track on the MotoGP calendar, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Repsol Honda rider will be present at the circuit –the scene of the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix- on April 7th, in a landmark event for the historic track to mix the past with the future. Hayden will ride a restored Indian motorcycle around the new infield road course.
Whilst Hayden will be hoping to use a much-improved 2008 version of the Honda RC212V at the inaugural Indianapolis MotoGP on September 14th, the bike with which he will complete the first lap of the new course dates back to the first race in the American city in 1909.
Hayden will later perform further laps of the speedway on a Honda production bike, as well as posing for photographs along the famous Yard of Bricks and speaking to the press.
