Following surgery on his right forearm to relieve `arm pump´ symptoms, Fiat Yamaha´s bwin.com Grande Premio de Portugal race winner Jorge Lorenzo was relieved that the operation had been a success - after surgeon Dr. Xavier Mir told him the condition was worse than he had previously thought.
At a press conference on Tuesday, the day after the double 250cc World Champion went under the knife at the USP Institut Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona, Lorenzo was in a highly positive frame of mind when he spoke to motogp.com.
`The operation turned out really well,´ said the championship leading MotoGP rookie. `Dr. Mir told me my arm was worse than he thought, so I am really pleased we took the decision and operated.´
When quizzed about his projected rehabilitation schedule, he answered, `I hope we will be in China, not at 100 per cent, because that would be impossible, but to be able to finish the race and finish in the top five.´
Reflecting on his sensational start to his maiden premier class campaign, Lorenzo added, `It´s absolutely amazing. Even two months ago I don´t think anyone in the paddock could have foreseen this result, the three pole positions and the pace I have been able to maintain. But we have to stay calm because the season is very long.´
