Cloudy start to Saturday in Malaysia

As the 125cc riders got the second day of action at the Polini Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix underway in their customary 9am timeslot there were grey clouds and humid conditions at Sepang.

Following the final free practice sessions in all three classes at Sepang on Saturday morning the important matter of qualifying for the penultimate round of the season will take place this afternoon, with the grey clouds in the early hours an ominous sign of what may lie ahead.

Though rain is certainly a possibility the threat of showers did not lead to a downpour on Friday so the World Championship participants could be spared another wet day despite the early overcast conditions.

Once the MotoGP riders have made their final adjustments this morning – ahead of their 1.55pm qualifying showdown – they will sign autographs during the lunchtime break for local fans.

In this afternoon´s main event the likes of Repsol Honda´s Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden, Fiat Yamaha´s Jorge Lorenzo and Friday´s fastest participant Colin Edwards will try to prevent the pole position dominance of Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner. Lorenzo´s Motegi pole three weeks ago is the only instance of one of the championship´s leading pair not starting at the head of the grid since Le Mans in May.
