‘Sky Platform’ elevates riders 50 metres above the Circuito de Jerez for high-altitude game of poker.
The MotoGP riders have seen it all in their time on track, but six undertook an all-new experience on Thursday afternoon. Marco Melandri, Randy de Puniet, Mika Kallio, Niccolò Canepa, Alex de Angelis and Yuki Takahashi were elevated 50 metres into the sky by crane… for a game of poker.
The bwin.com ‘Sky Platform’ –a table with 22 seats placed on the outside- is the betting company and MotoGP sponsor’s new promotional device. Although hardly the ideal scenario for poker newcomers like Takahashi to refine their game, the sextet had plenty of fun once elevated to overlook the scene of this weekend’s Gran Premio bwin.com de España.
The Sky Platform will be used for four days at the Spanish track, and a trip in the device is set to be a Saturday treat for five successful winners of a bwin.com raffle. Luckily for the MotoGP riders, they only had to hold their nerve for thirty minutes.
