No Balatonring return for Talmacsi

No Balatonring return for Talmacsi

Definitive split announced in Budapest; Aspar says rider free to join another team.

A salvage operation for professional relations between Gabor Talmacsi and the Balatonring team has proved unsuccessful, and the Hungarian will not return to the outfit for the remainder of the 2009 season, it has been confirmed.

Team Principal Jorge Martinez ‘Aspar’ and the former 125cc World Champion announced the definitive parting of ways in a press conference held in Budapest on Monday, following negotiations to bring Talmacsi back to the team. The issue of media and communication rights in Hungary –one of the reasons given for Talmacsi’s absence from the Grand Prix de France- was given as the irreconcilable difference.

“I am sad but we have to concentrate on the future and not the past!” said Aspar after emphasising that there was no ill feeling between himself and the rider. “We will keep on working on our Hungarian project, the team will go on and the Balatonring circuit will be constructed at an even bigger size than was originally planned.

Whilst Aspar has lined up another Hungarian rider to compete for the team in the 250cc class, he also revealed that he would not stand in Talmacsi’s way if he were to find a new outfit with which to ply his trade.

“Each party goes their respective way: I can only wish Mr. Talmácsi success and let him find a new team for himself. We parted ways in peace, hence I may - in principal - agree to his joining another team during this season.”
