Elías talks about future and reflects on Monday workout

Still on a high from his Brno podium but still looking for a team for 2010, Toni Elías had plenty on his mind during Monday’s post race test in the Czech Republic.

Despite the afternoon rain at Brno on Monday Toni Elías had a useful test with his San Carlo Honda Gresini crew and registered the sixth best time of the day, with a 1’57.841 best effort early in the day.

Elías’ team-mate Alex de Angelis was still suffering from back pain which started immediately after Sunday’s race and reluctantly withdrew from the Monday test, leaving the work schedule to the Catalan rider.

On his 39 lap effort Elías stated, “We tried a new footrest position, which I liked, and once were able to get back out we tried a new modified fork that Showa brought here. Unfortunately we didn’t do enough laps with it to make a proper evaluation and we might need to do some more tests during free practice at Indianapolis.”

Again mentioning the significance of his superb Sunday podium and what it could mean for his career, given that he will not ride with the Gresini team next year, Elías also commented, “The result gave me a lot of pleasure although at the same time it kind of makes me angry because even though I am scoring top results year after year I still don’t have a solution for next season. Anyway, I want to stay optimistic and I will be giving my absolute best until the end of the season, to show everybody my true worth over these last six races.”
