Rossi wants to forget Indy error in Rimini

Riding in front of his home fans this weekend, Valentino Rossi is glad to have a chance to put his Indianapolis error behind him as soon as possible.

Failing to finish a race for the first time since 2007 was hardly the ideal preparation for Valentino Rossi ahead of his true home event, this weekend’s Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, but with a 25 point title advantage and the home crowd behind him things could be far worse.

Racing so soon after his Brickyard DNF will give the ultra-talented Italian a chance to exorcise the demons and put the pressure back on his Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo – who covets Rossi’s cherished MotoGP crown – especially given the fact the Rossi was victorious at Misano last year.

Previewing this weekend’s action, with the track being just a few kilometres from his home town of Tavullia, Rossi stated, “I’m glad we don’t have long until the next race because I quickly want to forget the mistake of Indianapolis! Last year at Misano was incredible, to win in front of all my fans and so close to home was a great emotion and after missing out in Mugello this year we are really focused on trying to get the best result there.”

He continued, “As usual my Fan Club will make a big party there so I hope that we can give them a good show, it’s always great to ride at home. As we saw last weekend, anything can happen and the championship isn’t over, we have to keep working at the maximum and just try to take as many points as we can each time.”
