Youngster Espargaró learning quickly

Aleix Espargaró did well again on the first day of just his second ever premier class Grand Prix, on Friday at Misano.

Having made his MotoGP race debut at Indianapolis last weekend, where he scored points with a 13th place finish, Aleix Espargaró intends to keep up the good work at the Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.

The temporary Pramac Racing replacement made a decent start on Friday at Misano, lapping 13th fastest again, this time ahead of several regular MotoGP riders, including Chris Vermeulen and Marco Melandri.

Afterwards, the young Catalan rider told, “I am very happy. At Indianapolis we did a great job and I tried to learn as much as I could during the race. We arrive here stronger than we did at Indy, because I now understand more about the Ducati, the good and bad things about the bike.”

Espargaró continued, “At the beginning at started quite nervously, making a few mistakes, going long on the corners and so on. When I took a break in the box I tried to calm down and in the end I was quite happy. We are less than two seconds off the pace and less than half a second off the fastest Ducati so this is important. The team worked well, taking my problems on step by step, which helps a lot.”
