Karel Abraham to make FTR switch

Karel Abraham to make FTR switch

The Cardion AB Motoracing team has opted to change chassis provider and use the British manufacturer in the Moto2 World Championship.

Karel Abraham will shortly be the second rider on the Moto2 grid using the FTR chassis, after it was confirmed by his Cardion AB Motoracing team that he will switch to using the British manufacturer in the World Championship.

After struggling with the set-up and aerodynamics of the RSV chassis which Abraham has used in the opening two rounds of the inaugural Moto2 season, securing a points-scoring 14th place in Qatar, the decision was taken following the GP at Jerez to make the change to FTR.

Abraham tested the developing FTR M210 frame in pre-season and his team have been encouraged by the display of Alex Debón on the chassis so far this season, the only other rider using the bike in the category. Debón finished second in the opening race in Qatar, and the manufacturer also enjoyed its debut win in the Moto2 category of the CEV Buckler (Spanish National Championship) with Kev Coghlan 10 days ago at Albacete.

The Cardion AB Motoracing team hope to be able to use the FTR for the forthcoming Monster Energy Grand Prix de France this weekend, but if the bike is not ready Abraham will ride the M210 at the following round at Mugello at the start of June.
