Pramac Racing’s new livery signed by Philippe Starck

Pramac Racing’s new livery signed by Philippe Starck

The renowned French designer and MotoGP team, who have undertaken an ecological project together in the premier class, have donated the part of the Ducati livery signed at Mugello by Starck to the Riders for Health auction.

“Times are changing, and very fast. Yesterday ecology was looking backwards, and now ecology is creating the future. Surprisingly even a motorbike can do this. What will be next? Thank you Pramac Racing Team”. This was the declaration of Philippe Starck on Sunday, the famous designer who is collaborating with Pramac Racing in the MotoGP outfit’s bid to be more environmentally friendly, as he appeared at the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM as a guest of the team.

The creator of the RevolutionAir wind turbines used in the paddock by Pramac Racing, Starck has also designed the livery of the team’s bikes which were unveiled at a press conference at Mugello on Saturday. The Frenchman was in attendance, as were Pramac Team Principal Paolo Campinoti, Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta and FIM President Vito Ippolito.

"I think that MotoGP will increase its worldwide visibility thanks to the meeting between art and motorsport that is happening during this weekend,” said Mr Ezpeleta. “In the same way the initiative will serve to increase the awareness of all the fans that come to the circuit or that follow motorcycle racing.”

“Pramac Racing is the first team to try and really manage their emissions. Some other MotoGP teams are following this direction and I hope that many others will follow the example of this Italian team. We are also following with interest all the initiatives that the Green Energy Team is implementing this year because we may be able to increase our support for these sorts of initiatives in the near future.”

FIM President Mr Ippolito added: “For many years, the FIM has been committed to raising the awareness amongst the motorcycling world about the importance of respecting the environment for the future of our sport, but more importantly for the future of our children.”

“The collaboration between the Pramac Racing Team and Philippe Starck gives this initiative very important media exposure that will be recognised not only by the motorcycling fans but also by the general public. The Pramac Racing Team understands the importance of respecting the environment and is acting to reduce their environmental footprint, by investing in sustainable projects and using their popularity to pass an important message to the public and fans.”

The liveries of both bikes, which were autographed by Starck before the race, will be auctioned at the Day of Champions event at Silverstone on Thursday June 17th. The proceeds raised by the liveries will be used to finance an ecological project that Pramac Racing will develop during the year with Riders for Health.
