Márquez on a roll

Márquez on a roll

The 17 year-old Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider is in strong form and his confidence is high following a third 125cc victory in succession at Assen.

The unlocking of Marc Márquez’s undoubted potential continued on Saturday when the young Spaniard won his third straight 125cc race at the TIM TT Assen. Having taken his first World Championship victory at Mugello three weeks ago the Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider now has three to his name, as his displays continue to go from strength to strength.

It was also Márquez’s second straight win from pole position as his consistency develops across each GP weekend, and he is now third in the Championship standings with an intriguing battle at the top unfolding.

“I only got my first victory at Mugello and I have improved in every race,” stated Márquez, who became the second youngest rider in history after Marco Melandri to win three successive GP races. “I have a great feeling with the team as well. I think one of the reasons (I won) this weekend is because of the last two victories. My motivation is very high but we need to keep our feet on the ground for Barcelona.”

The Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya will present Márquez with the opportunity to make it four wins in a row in front of his home crowd, but he has a mature approach that matches his ability and belies his youth.

“It is another weekend which will be completely different and we need to work in the same way, and try and improve a little bit more. In front of my home fans I will try to get a good result, but I think if we get on the podium it will be enough,” he concluded.
