Welcome return to podium for Hayden

Welcome return to podium for Hayden

The Ducati Team rider scored a hard fought and richly deserved first rostrum result of 2010 at Aragón on Sunday.

Nicky Hayden won a fantastic battle with Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo for the final podium spot at Aragón on Sunday to complete a fantastic weekend not just on a personal level but for his Ducati Team as well.

With Casey Stoner’s victory and Hayden’s third place the Bologna factory scored its first double podium since Australia 2007, and Hayden was delighted to have made it into the top three for the first time this season having been agonisingly close on a number of occasions.

“It feels great to be back on the podium and I really enjoyed myself today,” said Hayden, who pulled off a great overtake on Lorenzo on the final lap to ensure his result. “The bike has been working really well all weekend and in the race I was able to get a good start and stay with Jorge.”

“There wasn't really anywhere I could get a wheel in and over the last couple of laps he pushed hard to get away but I decided that fourth wasn't good enough for me today. I did a bit of a backyard move in the chicane over there and managed to hold him off to the line.”

The podium finish came as little surprise however after Hayden had enjoyed a highly productive weekend, going fast in all sessions and hinting that such a result was imminent.

“It's nice to be on the podium, it has been a really good weekend for us and for the team, the sponsors and the supporters and I'm glad we could be up here today. We'll try to do it again a few more times before the season's over!” he concluded.
