Solid home result for Espargaró

Solid home result for Espargaró

The Pramac Racing rider continued his progress with another top-ten result on home soil at Aragón.

Aleix Espargaró was pleased with another top-ten result on Sunday which came despite problems with his Pramac Ducati in the previous day’s qualifying session.

The young Spaniard and his crew overcame the issues in the warm up session and from 13th on the grid Espargaró was able to fight his way up to tenth. He is now targeting an improved qualifying session in order to realise the potential that should lead to higher placements in the forthcoming rounds.

“I’m quite happy about the race,” said Espargaró. “At the beginning I wasn’t able to push so much and some riders were faster than me. Then I tried to make the distance up to Barberá and Bautista. For the final two laps I caught up with them but I just couldn’t get past Barberá.”

Espargaró continued: “We know we have to work more on the qualifying and our grid position. We are all very close in the times and if you start from the back of the grid it is really difficult to be inside the top eight or top six. If you start from the third row then everything is much easier, so we’ll try to improve a lot in the qualifying and to be on that third row in Motegi, because I think we can finish inside that top eight.”
