Nick Harris reviews MotoGP’s first visit to Aragón

Ducati’s success at a fantastic new addition to the MotoGP calendar and the ramifications of Round 13 for the 2010 season are reviewed by the commentator.

The Gran Premio A-Style de Aragón provided a fascinating weekend of MotoGP action as Ducati not only secured their first win of the season, but celebrated a double podium as Casey Stoner took victory and Nicky Hayden third place.

“It was great to see Casey Stoner and Ducati back there, I think it was important for the Championship as much as anything,” commented Nick Harris, commentator. “He took pole and led the race in Qatar and we thought it was going to be a great season for Ducati, but it’s not been an easy one since then. He rode brilliantly here. Dani Pedrosa threw everything he could at Stoner when he got into second position, but Stoner reacted every time.”

On the other side of the garage Hayden took his first rostrum finish of 2010 with a magnificent race which included a last-lap overtake on Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo.

“Nicky Hayden taking Jorge Lorenzo on the final lap for his first podium of the season was admirable, and of course it was the first time Lorenzo’s been off the podium this year,” continued Nick. “There was also a great battle between Ben Spies and Andrea Dovizioso. Spies just wouldn’t give him fifth and Dovizioso crashed out. All in all it’s been a really good day’s racing.”

Assessing what the result means for the Championship with five rounds remaining Nick added: “Pedrosa’s the only rider who can catch Lorenzo in the Championship, but it’s doubtful. However there must just be a little bit of doubt in Jorge Lorenzo’s mind. I think if Dani Pedrosa had won the race it would have been an even bigger doubt. Motegi will be interesting!”

You can test your expertise against that of Nick’s by playing the Fantasy MotoGP 2010 game, and for the Japan round there are some fantastic prizes to be won. Find out more and play by clicking here.
