Familiar top four in 125cc warm up

Nico Terol, Bradley Smith, Marc Márquez and Pol Espargaró were the four quickest riders in the final 30-minute session before the 125cc bwin Grande Premio de Portugal.

Nico Terol was just over eight-tenths of a second faster than any other 125cc rider in the warm up session ahead of the bwin Grande Premio de Portugal on Sunday, as the track conditions continued to improve gradually but with a wet surface remaining.

Bancaja Aspar rider Terol, who will start from the front row, set the best time of 1’56.225 with Championship leader and rival Marc Márquez (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport), pole man Bradley Smith (Bancaja Aspar), and the third rider still in with a chance of taking the title Pol Espargaró (Tuenti Racing) completing the top four across a 1.489s gap.

Sandro Cortese (Avant Mitsubishi Ajo), Alberto Moncayo (Andalucia Cajasol) – who starts from the front row – Jonas Folger (Team Ongetta) and Johann Zarco (WTR San Marino Team) completed the top eight.

There were a series of crashers as the wet track again made matters complicated for the riders with front row starter Danny Webb (Andalucia Cajasol) falling three times. His team-mate Moncayo also crashed, as did Louis Rossi (CBC Corse), Esteve Rabat (Blusens STX) and Luigi Morciano (Junior GP Racing Team FMI).

The 125cc race is due to start at 2.30pm local time.
