Top ten finish for Abraham despite injury

Top ten finish for Abraham despite injury

Although Karel Abraham started the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya with a bruised hand and dislocated thumb, he put in an impressive performance and finished in tenth place.

“My start wasn’t very good,” said Abraham, who started from the 15th position on the grid. “At least I overtook Aoyama.”

On lap three, when the Cardion AB Motoracing rider tried to overtake Randy de Puniet, he made a mistake and ran off the track. “I avoided a crash with this manoeuvre,” explained Abraham.

While Aoyama and De Puniet crashed out of the race Abraham returned to the track, and reduced a small gap to the next group of riders over the next ten laps. He then started to fight with them for the ninth place which Loris Capirossi eventually beat Abraham to by 0.021s.

“It was a hard battle. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pass Loris Capirossi on the finish line, but despite that I’m satisfied with this result and another top ten finish,“ added Abraham, who finished in tenth place, although he started with a bruised hand and dislocated thumb.

“Fortunately, this injury had no effect on my performance,” he concluded.
