Bradl resumes Moto2 momentum

Stefan Bradl was the pace setter once again in the extended second practice of the Iveco TT Assen weekend, more than half a second ahead of Scott Redding of Marc VDS Racing and Aleix Espargaró (Pons HP 40).

Bradl outgunned his rivals in the second free practice session of the Iveco TT Assen weekend with a fast lap set early in the 65 minute session of 1’39.488, a margin of 0.566s faster next quickest rider Redding. Espargaró set a third quickest time of 1’40.054, a further 0.719s behind the German leader.

Italian Michele Pirro (Gresini Racing Moto2) and Simone Corsi (Ioda Racing Project) stood at fourth and fifth position, only separated by 94 thousandths of a second, followed by Bradley Smith (Tech 3) - who recovered from fall in the first few minutes to post the 6th fastest time - and Pol Espargaro (HP Tuenti Speed Up), recovered from his crash from the previous day to place among the fastest.

Claudio Corti (Italtrans Racing), Yuki Takahashi (Gresini Racing) and Alex de Angelis (JiR Moto2) completed the top ten in a session that was not without incident, including rain that began to fall in the last 15 minutes of the session causing a few crashes including Elena Rosell, the replacement rider for Julián Simón of Mapfre Aspar.

With twelve minutes to left in the session, Javier Forés (Mapfre Aspar), Ricky Cardús (QMMF Racing Team) and finally Kenny Noyes (Avintia-STX) crashed in the same point of the track, turn 10. All riders at that point left the track, with only Andrea Iannone (Speed Master) and Anthony West (MZ Racing) venturing back out to attempt better times.
