Grotzkyj signs with Ambrogio Next Racing

Simone Grotzkyj will compete in the Moto3™ class alongside Giulian Pedone on the Ambrogio Next Racing team for the 2012 World Championship.

The Italian rider signed an agreement with WorldWideRace (WWR), the organization that runs the team, on Sunday February 26th. 23 year old Grotzkyj competed as WWR's rider last year, though was forced to miss the last five races after breaking his right hand in a crash during qualifying at the San Marino Grand Prix. Despite five absences, Simone was reported as the best Italian in the overall standings at the end of the season, a result that repeated his identical outcome of the year before.

Pedone and Grotzkyj will ride the Ambrogio Next Racing team’s Moto3 equipped with an Aprilia chassis and an engine supplied by Oral Engineering. Grotzkyj will attend a private test this week at Albacete to accelerate learning the new bike, though Pedone will not take part in the two day event as he is recovering from a wrist fracture sustained at the Valencia test in mid-February.

Simone Grotzkyj:
"Despite a difficult winter with uncertain prospects, here I am. I reached a good agreement with the team and I want to thank Fiorenzo for that. I am delighted to be back with them, because it means resuming a path that was interrupted after the accident at Misano. I'm looking forward to riding Moto3, a machine new to everyone. I visited the Oral factory, saw the bike and I’m confident that my experience will be useful for the development. The team has scheduled a program of intensive work and I'm looking forward to it. I thank those who have decided to support me, and the friends and all the people who worked to help me. It is due to them if my morale has remained high."

Fiorenzo Caponera (Team Principal):
"I'm glad to get Simone back with us. I respect him as a rider and as a person. Our personal relationship has always been excellent, even when the management of the overall thing was complicated. Now we have a second chance to prove we can do well-We're are absolutely convinced of it. We have planned an intensive test schedule to help him to catch up, since he missed the first meetings. Tuesday and Wednesday we’ll be testing in Almeria, and again at the same track on March 6th and 7th. Then two more days, yet to be set, and then the IRTA test at Jerez. Simone and Giulian are a well matched pair, both with high expectations from themselves. Giulian is recovering well from his injury. I can't wait to have them both on track – I'm confident our garage will be complete in Qatar."
