Dorna Sports' Safety Advisor will fulfil an advisory role for the Official Car Supplier to the World Championship.
A thrilling season is in store for The prestigious MotoGP™ World Championship, and the competition is sure be hotting up with more riders fighting for podium positions. Fans and all those who are involved in the events will be entertained by new rules, new faces, powerful bikes and an international race calendar that has already proved to be one of the most enjoyable. However, what for the spectators is pure emotion, for the riders is a dangerous challenge.
Testament to the success of the series is the longtime cooperation between BMW M and MotoGP organiser Dorna Sports. BMW M is looking to strengthen this relationship even further by appointing Dorna’s new MotoGP Safety Advisor, Loris Capirossi, as its 'BMW M MotoGP Expert'.
The Italian former rider has an extensive knowledge of MotoGP where he was given the nickname 'Capirex', due to a very successful 22-year Grand Prix career during which he rode in a total of 328 races and won three World Championship titles. Loris Capirossi combines an in depth understanding of the requirements of riders with experience on many different racing machines and a high regard for safety. For this reason he will be the expert for BMW M in MotoGP activities advising on important matters concerning the World Championship.
"It’s important for the Safety Cars to perform perfectly in race conditions so they will be completely reliable. BMW M provides quick, high class performance cars, which perform perfectly out on the track," said Loris. "As Safety Advisor I will start testing the cars myself on the track, and certainly I will enjoy that a lot."
Furthermore BMW M guests will be given the possibility to take a look behind the scenes. Loris Capirossi will take them where the teams will be working, to meet mechanics and riders, and share valuable insight. Without any doubt, this will be a highlight in the BMW M guests’ packed first class schedule. Until recently guests were taken care of by Randy Mamola, former BMW M Ambassador for MotoGP. BMW M wants to thank him for his work and his contribution to the successful partnership between BMW and Dorna during the past 13 years.
