Oliveira heads final Moto3™ free practice at Le Mans

It was Estrella Galicia 0,0’s Miguel Oliveira who topped the timesheets in this morning’s final free practice session at the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France in Le Mans, ahead of Maverick Viñales.

In cold conditions hovering around the 11°C mark, Oliveira set the fastest time of 1.44’381 in the final session before qualifying this afternoon. It went right down to the wire as Blusens Avintia’s Viñales was closely behind just one tenth off the mark. Team Italia FMI’s Romano Fenati looked on top form again as he rounded out the top three, on just his third outing ever at the French track.

Oliveira’s teammate Alex Rins was fourth fastest, ahead of AirAsia-SIC-Ajo’s Zulfahmi Khairuddin in fifth, who is continuing the good form he showed in Estoril. Red Bull KTM Ajo’s championship leader Sandro Cortese, who had a somewhat subdued session for his standards, occupied sixth place. He missed the majority of yesterday’s afternoon session with a mechanical issue.

In seventh, his teammate Danny Kent had a positive practice, recording a time just under one second off the front. He finished ahead of Bankia Aspar Team’s Alberto Moncayo in eighth. Rounding out the top ten were Racing Team Germany’s Louis Rossi and JHK T-Shirt Laglisse’s Efrén Vázquez.

The session was largely incident free, with only Caretta Technology’s Jack Miller loosing the front with five minutes to go in the final turn. Vazquez forced Moto FGR’s Jasper Iwema wide into the gravel early in the session, yet the Dutchman kept his bike upright and managed to re-join instantly.
