De Angelis secures maiden podium of the season

De Angelis secures maiden podium of the season

After all the work done in the past few weeks by Alex De Angelis and the NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team, the first podium of the season for the rider from San Marino arrived after a spectacular ride at the Sachsenring last weekend.

This was De Angelis´s 39th podium of his career and a total of eight top3 finishes at Sachsenring. He can now begin his season in a completely different way, thanks to the feeling acquired with his new FTR bike. De Angelis had started the season on board a Suter chassis, which the team decided to change before the Assen round. The San Marino rider is now one of only three FTR chassis representatives on the Moto2™ grid.

Alex De Angelis

"I have been happy on this bike from the very first lap at Assen and I would like to say thanks to my team for believing in me and changing the bike. The first time I was with this bike was Assen and that’s where I got by best result and now I pushed and pushed during the race and posted the record track lap here at Sachsenring. We now know that with this bike that at the beginning of the race it’s good and that towards the end we have found some problems that we need to adjust. We haven’t done many kilometres with this bike yet. In Mugello we will be working on this and I am sure we can fight for the rest of the season to be in the top five."

Pietro Caprara, Moto2 Technical Director

We are very happy with Alex´s result. We knew that he likes this track. We considered Assen like a test because it was the first time the team and riders worked with the FTR bike, the guys worked a lot to find a good machine setting for Alex. We are very happy that he was able to fight for the podium, it’s a shame that he lost the second position in the fight with Kallio but we consider that with the time that we have had so far with this bike, this is a very good result."
