Palma welcomes home world champion Jorge Lorenzo

Thousands of fans welcomed home two-time MotoGP™ World Champion Jorge Lorenzo yesterday in Palma de Mallorca, with a motorcycle parade ending up at the headquarters of the Balearic government, where he was received by president José Ramón Bauzá.

Lorenzo was driven through the streets aboard a convertible car with his mother and was escorted on his tour of dozens of 'bikers'. President Bauzá welcomed and congratulated him on "all the success in your career, especially for this second MotoGP world championship."

"You have completed a brilliant season that makes you one of the most prominent figures in the world of motorcycling," said Bauzá.

The four-time world champion, with two titles in the 250cc category and two in MotoGP, said he was very pleased with the reception they have given the Palma: "Coming back to my country and celebrating this second championship here was a dream for me. With four world titles I ask no more; whatever comes in the future will be a gift.”

With regards to the fight he had with Dani Pedrosa until the penultimate race to be crowned world champion, Lorenzo said: "He won seven races and for us it was hard to resist their attacks, but we did it with intelligence and without committing errors at key moments."
