GO&FUN Honda Gresini launches in Milan

GO&FUN Honda Gresini launches in Milan

Milan city centre has played host to the GO&FUN Honda Gresini launch ahead of the 2013 campaign. This season, the squad will run four bikes across the MotoGP™ and Moto3™ classes.

Ahead of the season-opening race in Qatar on 7 April, Gresini’s launch was held at the Roialto restaurant in Milan on Tuesday. A brand-new RC213V was unveiled as the team’s leading MotoGP bike for Álvaro Bautista, whereas Australian rookie Bryan Staring will compete on an FTR-Honda in the CRT class. In Moto3, Niccolò Antonelli is partnered by Lorenzo Baldassarri.

The presentation also officially marked the start of the working relationship between team owner Fausto Gresini and GO&FUN President Bruno Bollini.

“What a fantastic day!” Gresini began. “We have some ambitious projects lined up for the present and future and we are taking them on with a positive approach that we are sure can reap positive rewards.”

Last year saw Bautista finish fifth in the MotoGP Riders’ Championship. The Spaniard, who also collected two podium finishes and an impressive pole position at Silverstone, hopes for at least more of the same in 2013.

“It has been a brilliant day!” he commented. “It is really nice to be back with Team Gresini for a second season. The new Team GO&FUN Honda Gresini colours are suitably vibrant and we made some great progress with the machine itself in the recent tests in Malaysia. Now we will look to confirm that progress in the next session at Jerez and make sure we're ready for the first race in Qatar.”

“Everything is new for me: a new bike, new team, new colours... it's a fantastic feeling,” Staring adds. “It was great to be up on stage next to a true champion like Álvaro and two great young kids in Niccolò and Lorenzo.”

The aforementioned Jerez test session, the final pre-season gathering for the MotoGP™ field, will be staged from 23rd-25th March.
