Bradl explains switch to Brembo front brakes

Stefan Bradl has made a significant change for the Iveco TT Assen. He and LCR Honda MotoGP are now running front brakes supplied by Brembo, whereas the usual Nissin system remains on the rear of the bike.

The German first attempted such a configuration when testing the 2014 prototype Honda RC213V at last week’s MotorLand Aragon test session.

“We had a try of the 2014 factory bike in Aragon and on that bike we were doing the Brembo thing,” Bradl explains to in a video interview. “Basically, the reason we have changed is because we were trying to improve our front feeling. We then had some information from (suspension supplier) Ohlins, who suggested to us that they would like to have the same data as HRC to try and rectify our problem.”

When asked if the Brembo setup is for the long-term, the 23-year-old replied:

“We are still working with Nissin to try and develop their parts. We are temporarily using Brembo and we will see how we proceed, but we definitely still have a good relationship with Nissin.”

Bradl has travelled to The Netherlands after finishing in the top five of the latest two races at Mugello and Barcelona. He is currently eighth in the championship standings.
