Espargaro from Redding in final practice

Following his big crash of Friday, Pol Espargaro has posted the quickest time in final free practice ahead of the Moto2™ Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix. The Tuenti HP 40 rider edged out title rival and championship leader Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team) as Aspar Team Moto2’s Jordi Torres completed the top three.

Espargaro, who heads into this event second in the championship and 23 points behind Redding, set the pace with his leading effort of 1’43.273. Torres missed out on second place by less than one tenth of a second whereas his Aspar partner Nico Terol and Espargaro’s teammate Tito Rabat rounded out the top five.

Simone Corsi (NGM Mobile Racing) and Takaaki Nakagami (Italtrans Racing Team), who headed yesterday’s respective pair of opening sessions, ended this morning’s proceedings in sixth and seventh positions. Just under nine tenths of a second covered the top ten, which was closed by 2010 class champion Toni Elias (Blusens Avintia).

Moto2™ Qualifying will start at 3:05pm local time (GMT -4).
