Rabat back on top in Warm-Up

Rabat back on top in Warm-Up

Having lost out to teammate Pol Espargaro for pole position, Tito Rabat led the way once again as the Moto2™ Warm-Up took place at Phillip Island on Sunday morning.

Rabat topped every session of the weekend before qualifying, in which he narrowly missed out to Tuenti HP 40 Espargaro after suffering two incidents. On Sunday morning, the three-time race winner topped the timesheets with a best effort of 1’32.586, two tenths of a second quicker than Espargaro while Alex de Angelis - who won the Australian event in 2010 and 2011 - completed the top three for NGM Mobile Forward Racing.

Not present was World Championship leader Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team), who had fractured his left wrist on Friday and will therefore not be participating in Sunday’s shortened race. Completing the top five were Interwetten Paddock Moto2 Racing’s Tom Luthi and Redding’s teammate Mika Kallio, who had also crashed on Friday.

The Moto2™ Tissot Australian Grand Prix will start at 2:20pm local time (GMT +11).
