Marca: Spencer backs Marquez as title favourite

Freddie Spencer, the former rider whose record of being the youngest ever winner of the premier class title was taken by Marc Marquez in 2013, believes the Repsol Honda man is the favourite for the MotoGP™ crown this year. The American puts Marquez ahead of his rivals in the title stakes, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

In an interview given at the Valencia circuit this week, Spencer commented, "I have Marc Marquez down as the favourite to win the title this year, although he will have a hard fight to beat Jorge Lorenzo who is riding at his best ever level. He will also have to beat Dani Pedrosa who I think could cause some surprises."

Marquez is currently recovering from a leg injury sustained in winter training and faces a race to be fit for the start of the new season.
