101 laps for blisteringly quick Rabat

101 laps for blisteringly quick Rabat

Tito Rabat was on fine form as Australian Moto2™ testing continued alongside the five MotoGP™ runners on Wednesday.

A championship candidate of 2014, who for this year has switched from the Pons outfit to Marc VDS Racing Team, was able to manage as much as 101 laps and a race simulation. His urgency was only increased by a threat of rain for Wednesday.

"Yesterday we did a lot of laps and tested many tyres," the Spaniard explained in the Phillip Island pit lane. "Today we stared to test the last ones, but maybe it will rain tomorrow so we need to finish testing all of the tyres that Dunlop have brought here for us. For today I still needed to test two of the tyres and do a long run with the best one, then tomorrow we will try to improve in wet conditions."

Rabat’s scorching speed saw the 24-year-old Catalan duck underneath Pol Espargaro’s 2013 Moto2™ pole time by a comfortable four tenths of a second.
