Terol and Torres test Qatar race engines

Mapfre Aspar Team Moto2 riders Nico Terol and Jordi Torres took the opportunity of the Phillip Island test to run their Qatar race engines on Wednesday.

Although the test is principally tyre-focused, both of the Spaniard riders took a chance to sample the actual engines they will be racing at the season-opener in Qatar.

“I am happy today because it was the first day we worked with this engine – and worked with it for the whole day,” Torres confirmed. “This is important for all riders in order to control this power, that’s the most important thing. Yesterday I had my ‘normal’ engine, but today with this one I am very happy because it has more power!”

Talking of the Wednesday programme in terms of the Dunlop tyres, Terol explained:

“We worked with two new tyres. I like one; with that one the feeling it good because the tyre does many laps and doesn’t slow down. I like this weather for testing here. Today we worked again on testing new tyres and with the feeling on the bike. Tomorrow is the last day, so we will prepare for a race simulation and for Qatar.”

Continuing their tyre test, the Aspar riders finished third and fourth quickest of the four Moto2™ riders present – behind Marc VDS Racing Team duo Rabat and Kallio.
