Iannone and Hernandez reflect on testing progress

Pramac Racing put in three intense days of MotoGP™ testing at Qatar with the data gathered from every lap crucial as Ducati plan their season with the new ‘Open’ entry format.

Andrea Iannone worked intensely at Losail focussing both on development of the new GP14 and on tyre duration in several race simulations. His pace improved considerably and he was well over a second faster than on Friday by the end of Sunday.

After completing 173 laps and a total of 930km in less than 72 hours he commented, “Sunday was another good day, we managed to improve our lap time even if that was not the main objective at this test. We focused on understanding how to be consistent in the race. We were able to figure out some little important things to improve our pace. The team have more material so they can work at home already before the first round.”

“I'm satisfied we have done a lot of work that has brought us the results. I thank all the guys who have worked hard for these three days. I also thank Ducati for being here for me and I thank all of those who are working back in Italy.”

Hernandez on the 2013 Duacti machine worked on geometry and with the new Mangneti Marelli electronics to increase tyre life.

His best lap time was 1'56.056 and he completed a total of 146 laps over the three days. “I am happy to have finished the winter tests in a positive way as I was able to improve little by little every day,” he stated.

“I now have a good feeling with the bike, we were able to do a good job on tyre life. I can't wait to get to the real thing and to go racing now!”
