A glimpse of the podium for Iannone in Texas

A glimpse of the podium for Iannone in Texas

It was an enjoyable weekend at the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas for the Pramac Racing Team, with the highlight being Andrea Iannone’s performance in the second MotoGP™ race of the year.

Iannone gave everything he had to cross the finish line in seventh position, having made a push for the podium for much of the race. The Italian rider started well from the back of the third row, running in front of the likes of Valentino Rossi, Stefan Bradl and Bradley Smith in third position, before tyre degradation in the last 6 laps saw him drop back four places.

Reflecting on his personal best performance in the premier class, Iannone stated, “I am satisfied with today’s result, but I could have done better if I hadn't had the tyre problem. I pushed to the limit. I don’t understand why it lost so much grip, during the practice session we used the same compound and didn't have this problem.”

He added, “This is my first good race in MotoGP after a difficult year for Ducati, we are getting stronger. I thank the members of my team for the great job this weekend and Ducati for support.”

Meanwhile Energy T.I. Pramac Racing’s Yonny Hernandez battled for 11th place with Nicky Hayden and Hiroshi Aoyama, the Colombian eventually crossing the finish line in 13th.

“It was a good race and I'm happy with my result,” he commented. “I was close to Hayden and Aoyama for most of the 20 laps and they have a lot of experience. It was a good opportunity that helped me to learn a lot.”
