Corsi reflects on convincing second place

Simone Corsi was a star of the Moto2™ French Grand Prix, leading for much of the way before being overhauled for the victory by Mika Kallio.

While ultimately finishing second, just one second in arrears and from sixth on the grid, Corsi successfully led 16 of the 26 laps in Sunday’s intermediate class race.

“I’m really happy,” the Roman declared. “After three fifth places, it’s great to be back on the podium. We worked well during the whole weekend and I was able to ride fast from the beginning. I made a good start and pushed hard from the first lap. Then I was leading but Kallio had a stronger pace.

“We will keep on working in this direction for the next races. I look forward to racing in Mugello; I like a lot that track and I aim at confirming another strong performance. I’d like to thank the team and the sponsors for the great support.”

As a result of a trio of fifth places and his second spot in France, Corsi has now amassed 53 points from the opening five races of the season; this leaves him just five behind Dominique Aegerter in the overall battle for fourth place.
