Strong opening day at home for Bradl

Strong opening day at home for Bradl

Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda MotoGP) had a solid start to the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.

The home rider has had strong results at Sachsenring in previous years, claiming podiums in the 125cc class as well as Moto2. Friday morning practice started with the German rider finishing in seventh, ahead of Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda). A 1’22.802s was just 0.632s from first.

Free Practice two saw Bradl’s lap time improve to a 1’22.430s and put him fourth in the session, again ahead of Dani Pedrosa and also Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha). Bradl was able to achieve this impressive result despite focusing on race set up for much of Friday.

He commented, “I think fourth is okay, we have to be careful with the tyres. The front tyre is a bit tricky. We put the soft tyre at the end and were able to come back with a good lap time. The weather looks good for this weekend.”

“The hard rear was so-so. It was okay, but a lot depends on the track temperature. I prefer the soft rear a little. The front tyre is also something we must consider,” he said on tyre choice.
