Vazquez finally gets reward for years of hard work

Efren Vazquez put his Indianapolis victory in the 116th Grand Prix appearance of his long career down to hard work and meticulous preparation.

The SAXOPRINT RTG man produced an excellent Moto3™ ride at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix using all his experience to win a tough battle at the front involving all the championship frontrunners, beating Romano Fenati to the line by just +0.065, with Jack Miller a close third.

This is the eighth full Grand Prix season in the career of Spaniard Vazquez and is already his most successful to date, with five podiums to his name – including this precious first ever victory at Indy.

Vazquez is clearly blossoming this year and after recently marrying he has a clear focus which is driving him forward. After Sunday’s triumph he stated, “I pushed really hard in the summertime to get my best physical condition for the race. I tried also to be fully concentrated in the summer to get the best mentality for this second part of the championship.”

“During the weekend I tried to do one hundred percent in every practice. We didn’t touch anything on the bike, no setting, nothing, just concentrated on riding style to give the best every practice. It was a really hard race for us and, I think, for every rider. I will take it, the first victory, I’ve finally got it.”
