Florian Marino to cover for injured Corsi

Florian Marino to cover for injured Corsi

NGM Forward Racing has confirmed that 21-year-old Frenchman Florian Marino will cover for the recovering Simone Corsi at Misano next weekend.

Corsi is out of action following surgery to rectify an arm injury, having picked up the problem when involved in a collision with Jonas Folger last time out at Silverstone. Marino, currently third in the World Supersport Championship, will therefore make his World Championship debut as he fills the void.

“First I would like to wish Simone the best and hope that he is back out on-track as soon as possible,” Marino comments. “Until now he has been very competitive this year and it is a shame that he has been injured. I have been following Moto2™ from the beginning of the season and have always dreamed of competing in the category some day. Finally, this dream has come true. I cannot wait to get out there on the track with the Forward Racing Kalex.”

With Corsi and Folger having collided at Silverstone’s The Loop corner last Sunday, the Italian was treated in Oxford that same day for an open fracture of the left ulna as well as for damaged tendons in his wrist. Once he was discharged from hospital, the Roman returned home to Italy on Tuesday night. At present, no comeback date has been pinpointed, although doctors have ruled him out of participating at Misano.
