Misano special for Red Bull KTM Ajo pair

Misano special for Red Bull KTM Ajo pair

Jack Miller and Karel Hanika both have fond memories from previous visits to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Six races remain in the 2014 World Championship and the first of those remaining rounds will be held this weekend at Misano, with Miller leading the standings with a margin of 13 points going into the meeting.

His Red Bull KTM Ajo teammate Hanika wants to continue his good run of races and place in the points, as he has done since the return from the summer break.

Miller will be participating in his 50th Grand Prix this weekend. The Australian, who is having his best season to date in the World Championship, hopes to return to the rostrum after missing out at the last two rounds. His best finish at Misano is the fifth place achieved there last year.

Miller commented, “We are prepared for Misano, a special circuit for me. It was there that I completed my first race, after debuting in a Grand Prix event one round before in Germany. It's a circuit that I like and that suits my riding style well, and is also one of those tracks where I enjoy riding. Last year I had a good result there, with a fifth place. I like the track more than Silverstone, so I'm looking forward to it.”

Hanika has even fonder memories of the track, where last season he was crowned champion of the Red Bull Rookies Cup. He has been a firm fixture in the front group in recent races, and hopes to keep up with the frontrunners in this weekend’s Grand Prix.

“I have very fond memories of Misano. I won the Red Bull Rookies Cup there last year and in 2012 I was able to get the race win. Still, it is not one of my favourite tracks because I think it is very difficult and it is tricky to find the right setup. I think we can have a good weekend and improve the result that we had in the race at Silverstone. We have to be a little closer to the front,” said the young Czech rider.
