Terol denied successful return by technical problem

After missing the last round at Silverstone Nico Terol made his return to racing on Sunday at Misano, but the weekend in Italy was to end in frustration for the Spanish rider.

Looking to cap off a positive return that had seen him make progress throughout practice, the MAPFRE Aspar Team Moto2 rider ran out of luck in the race.

Terol ran off track avoiding another rider early in race, before his comeback was thwarted by a broken chain on the tenth lap.

“I got a good start, which allowed me to get through the first chicane without any dramas and in a good position, but suddenly there was another rider in my way and I had to run off track,” he explained. “A lot of guys came past and I had to work hard to put my rhythm together and try to recover. I got myself in the mix and then made a couple of mistakes but I kept going and just as I started to feel comfortable on the bike the chain broke.”

“It is annoying but we have to use this energy as motivation for the next race, which is at home. I also want to take the positives away from the weekend, which is that we made constant progress.”

Next up is Aragon, where Terol took victory from pole position in last season’s Moto2™ race.
