Abraham motivated by best Open result

Abraham motivated by best Open result

Karel Abraham equaled his best result of the season at Misano in 11th place on Sunday and he was also the first Open equipped rider to cross the finish lap at the end of the 28 lap race.

The Czech rider got away from 17th on the grid and made good progress after a tricky start, making his way through the mid pack to finish less then ten seconds outside the top ten.

The Cardion AB Motoracing man was the best of the Open class participants in the race and enjoyed his battle with fellow Honda RCV1000R rider Hiroshi Aoyama, who he beat to the chequered flag by two seconds.

Abraham commented, “It was not easy because there were at least three other Honda guys that I was fighting with. They did a very good start, I was not that good, again, at the start. Anyway I was trying to push really hard, but the problem was especially that I was losing the front. Then in the second half of the race the rear was spinning and sliding all over.”

“So it was not easy to adapt, but once I adapted I was able to take the gap back, because Hiroshi Aoyama was like five seconds in front of me. I overtook him and I managed to put a gap between us again and I finished in front of him.”

He added, “These moments are the reason why I race. I enjoyed the race and the battle with Aoyama, I did my best result of this season and I won best Open bike award. It’s an awesome result and a motivation to go further. But on the other hand I know I can still be better. I must express my thanks to the team, to Honda and to all the fans who support me not only today, but every race.”
