Espargaro and De Angelis up for Aragon challenge

Espargaro and De Angelis up for Aragon challenge

Aleix Espargaro intends to bounce straight back from his Misano DNF at Aragon, whilst the Spaniard’s NGM Forward Racing colleague Alex De Angelis has been having treatment on a scaphoid fracture ahead of round 14.

In front of the Spanish fans on Sunday Espargaro is determined to produce a strong performance and gain important points, following an unlucky race at Misano which saw him crash out near the end.

Espargaro commented, “I like Aragon and for me it is a kind of home GP. The track is faster than Misano and it’s fun to ride. We know that we could suffer on the long straight, which is almost 1km long, but we arrive determined to do well and to recover from Misano.”

His teammate De Angelis arrives in Spain after several intense days of magnetic TECAR and laser therapy in order to recover from a scaphoid fracture, revealed by a magnetic resonance scan carried out on the Monday after the Misano round.

De Angelis stated, “Aragon has a variety of corners, with some climbs and descents. The circuit is relatively new to the championship, this is just its fifth time hosting MotoGP, and I have never raced there on board a MotoGP bike so I’m excited.”

“The only unknown point will be the pain levels, as I’m recovering from a scaphoid fracture. Since Misano I have done a lot of magnetic TECAR and laser therapy to recover in a shorter time. Fortunately I can race in Aragon, but regarding a possible result I will only know when I jump on the bike on Friday for FP1.”
