Marquez leads warm up by half a second

MotoGP™ World Champion Marc Marquez ended Warm Up at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan on top by half a second from Jorge Lorenzo, with Andrea Iannone third.

It was the perfect start to the morning for Marquez who could retain the MotoGP™ title today in Japan.

Repsol Honda’s Marquez starts Sunday’s race from fourth on the grid but he was fast in free practice on Saturday and again in Sunday Warm Up as he outpaced Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Lorenzo by 0.492s. Pramac Racing’s Iannone was 0.617s behind Marquez in third.

Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) were also in the Warm Up top five, both within 0.8s of Marquez. Pole man Andrea Dovizioso was sixth fastest, just behind Pedrosa.

Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda MotoGP), Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech3), Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech3) and Cal Crutchlow (Ducati Team) were all in the Warm Up top ten.

Bradl and Nicky Hayden (Drive M7 Aspar) both crashed in the session without consequences.
