Dovizioso: “The Dutch track is unique”

The Motul TT Assen offers a chance for Andrea Dovizioso to put his season back on track.

A run of three successive second place finishes at the beginning of the year demonstrated the high level of both Dovizioso and the new Ducati GP15. Sadly the races in both Mugello and Barcelona have seen the Italian unable to finish on both occasions and he now sits in fourth behind his teammate Andrea Iannone in the overall standings.

The Dutch track has seen Dovizioso on the podium three times, including a second place finish with Ducati last year. Dovizioso has a reputation as a strong wet weather rider, able to take advantage of Assen’s tricky weather conditions. If rain does fall Dovizioso will surely be one to watch as he chases Ducati’s first victory since 2010.

Andrea Dovizioso: “I was very disappointed about my crash at Barcelona, because we could have scored some good points for the championship, but I also know we are working well and this gives me the opportunity to fight for the podium at every round. At Assen it is important for us to come back to the podium and confirm our speed. The Dutch track is unique because of its particular layout, but also because of the weather conditions we usually encounter during the race weekend. In any case, we have to look at the positive things: we have a very fast bike and for sure we will be competitive at Assen.”
